The flower of life

Făgăraș County Museum “Valer Literat” and the artist Raluca Jurcovan invites you on Thursday, 22nd of April 2021, at 12 pm, in the Thomory Tower, first floor, for the opening of the exhibition “The flower of life”.
The exhibition brings together more than 100 religious icons realized by the artist Raluca Jurcovan. Half of these are painted on glass and the other half sewed with needles, on house cloth, on a loom by Mariana and Gheorghiță Neacșu. Another exhibit of this exhibition is the flower of life shirt, specially created by the artist for this exhibition, a symbol shirt which connects two worlds: that of the icons on glass and that of traditional shirts. From the combination of the two crafts, icons sewn on canvas were born, which have their origin in the multitude of sources characteristic to the different glass painting centers but are realized with materials and techniques specific to embroidery. The opening of the exhibition will be broadcasted live on museum’s official Facebook pages – Cetatea Făgărașului and Muzeul Țării Făgărașului.
The exhibition can be visited between the 22nd of April and the 6th of December 2021, from Tuesday until Wednesday between 08:00 and 18:00, and on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00.
